Overview
Building rehabilitation design and structural reinforcement design of a typical Pombaline Lower Town Building in Rua Augusta Street, Lisbon. The design comprises the analysis for reinforcement of masonry employing reinforced mortar and the analysis for reinforcement of timber floors and their connection to the masonry.
The typical “Gaiola Pombalina”, which is a masonry building reinforced with an internal wooden cage, was also aim of design for rehabilitation. To note that this internal wooden cage, mostly used in Portugal, after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, is to be considered a World Heritage
